Dr. Majid Pourostad is the Founder and Principal of NATIONS GATE® Law
Professional Corporation. With more than 25 years of experience in international
business contracts, commercial arbitration, and litigation, he advises clients across
diverse industries on both domestic and cross-border matters.
A Barrister and Solicitor licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, Dr. Pourostad holds a
Professional LLM in International Business Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. He is a
Qualified Arbitrator with the ADR Institute of Canada (Ontario) and has participated in
numerous mediation and arbitration proceedings in both institutional and ad hoc
settings. He has also served as a Visiting Scholar at Osgoode Hall Law School.
Dr. Pourostad earned his LLB, LLM, and PhD in Private Law from the University of
Tehran and previously served as a tenure-track Assistant Professor at IAUCTB, where
he taught Civil Procedure, Law of Evidence, International Commercial Arbitration, and
Comparative Law. His academic career also included research appointments at
UNIDROIT in Rome (2004) and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and
International Private Law in Hamburg (2005 and 2009).
His expertise in Middle Eastern legal systems has been recognized internationally;
notably, his legal opinions have been cited by Professor Susan Haack, a distinguished
philosopher, in her published essays.
